EMF is a leader in Nickel Cobalt Electroforming. Electroforming, similar to electroplating, uniquely involves the fabrication of a part by itself using an existing surface. It creates its own thick, self-supporting standalone metal component. This process requires electric current to pass through a metal solution containing dissolved metallic salts that are attracted to an electrically charged surface. This surface produces a negative charge (typically a nickel saddle or stainless-steel mandrel) and with this process, our EMF experts can put on continuous layers of nickel to achieve complex and intricate geometries.
Nickel Electroplating
EMF is a leader in Nickel Electroplating. Electroplating is an upgrade or improvement to an existing material versus a production of a whole separate object.
Electroplating is a process by which metal ions in a solution are bonded to an electrically conductive object. The metal ions, in our case being nickel, form a bonded layer on the surface of the object, resulting in improved corrosion protection, wear resistance, electrical insulation properties, or enhanced aesthetic qualities.

Molds
EMF completed a tractor trailer hood mold which allowed it to be used for lay-up and autoclave, pictured on the left.

Chinook
You can see our 33-foot Chinook lay-up tool in the midst of the plating process in the left image, contrasted with its final form upon completion in the image on the right.


Lay-up Tools
Pictured on the left is a B M W roof lay-up tool alongside a general lay-up tool on the right. These tools will be used to mold composite materials where the final product emerges from layering a precise count of varied sheets.


Radome Tool
EMF completed another lay-up tool specifically designed for the 737 Radome Tool.
